Welcome to Manuka whānau we are a class of year 6 and 7 at Oruaiti school in the Far North, NZ. Our teacher is Mrs Wihongi.
Term 1 Activities
On the eleventh of March was the tsunami. We all had to evacuate up to the hill at nine AM, and spend the rest of the day up in the padic. Lots of kids were making huts in the trees and other kids were just drawing and colouring in pictures.
On the 26th of March was the camp activity week. The first day was sailing at Taipa. It went well and all but they did tip us out on purpose which was annoying. It was also pretty hard to get back in the boat.
The second day was visiting the stone store.
It was pretty fun learning about some new history there. We also got to go inside Kemp house and look and discover different things in there.
Day three was going on Puketi forest walk. We took a bus there and we met a guy called John. He showed us different animals that we dead like different pests. He also showed us different types of traps. The walk was pretty good as well.
On the 14th of April was the senior tryathlon. I came third place and lost my earring in the middle of the race. It really hurt for a while but it slowed me down quite a bit as well, but other than that it was pretty good. My goal for next year is to try not to let my helmet take my earring with it.
We also got our green gold enviro which meant a lot to our school. Green gold enviro means that we are a sustainable school and we look after our school and look after our environment around our school really well.
